What about you: what was on your Saturday afternoon menu ?

Déjà 2 jours de passés sur les 366 de 2012. Et je suis contente d'avoir aligné un certain nombre de petites croix. J'avais perdu un peu de mon entrain fin 2011, et j'ai re-démarré avec bonheur, mais en douceur en 2012, avec un ouvrage monochrome. Du noir, avec une toute petite touche de rouge turc, pour qu'on ne croit pas que je sombre dans la mélancolie. Pas du tout, du tout. C'est juste que j'avais depuis longtemps envie de broder un ouvrage en noir et blanc, et je me suis enfin décidée. La grille "Arbre  aux oiseaux" de A Mon Ami Pierre avait été acquise à cet effet il y a deux ou trois ans... Mon aiguille, garnie de soie moulinée Vikki Clayton  prend bien du plaisir à traverser et retraverser la toile, du lin Gander 15 fils, comme on l'aime. Si les 364 jours qui restent sont du même acabit, ça me va !

366 days in 2012, and 2 down already. I am glad to report I have been busy stitching. I had quite lost my mojo at the end of 2011, but I am happily holding a needle again, albeit not taking too many risks, as I am working on a monochrome project. An all-black, with a tiny Turkey red accent so that nobody believes I am in a dark mood. Not in the least. I have been meaning to stitch and frame a black and white piece for a long time and it is materializing at last. The A Mon Ami Pierre chart has been lying in wait at the bottom of a pile for two or three years, and I am now making good progress with basic black stranded silk (Vikki Clayton) on nice 38-count Gander linen. If the next 364 days are similar to the past 2, I'll be content with my lot !

C'était hier, c'était bien, maintenant il faut attendre 365 jours (y compris un exceptionnel 29 février !) pour recommencer.

It was yesterday, it was fun, now one must wait another 365 days (including an extra 29th February !) to do it again.

Plus de table à mettre en scène d'ici un bout de temps.  Je pourrais bien me remettre à broder, non ?

Will be a while before I set a festive table again. Could just as well stitch in the meantime, couldn't I ?

 Ca me chagrinait tout de même un peu de renoncer à la tradition et de ne pas broder la décoration 2011 qui passera à la postérité...  ;-) Un petit tour dans la boutique virtuelle Jardin Privé, et hop, j'étais équipée du  petit motif parfait (grille "Boule à neige") pour réaliser en trois coups de cuiller à pot (c'est à dire 2 soirées) "ze" déco, en forme de boule bien sûr, puisque c'est ma marotte du moment. 

I was a bit sad after all to give up on tradition and not stitch an "heirloom" 2011 ornament... ;-) A quick visit to Nathalie Cichon's online shop Jardin Privé helped me find the perfect small pattern ("Boule à neige" chart) to produce at lightning speed (well, two evenings, really)  a hanging ornament for our 2011 Christmas tree.  Finished as a bauble of course, it seems to be my current fad.

Et comme j'étais sur ma lancée, et que tout mon bazar était sorti, je n'ai pas pu résister à un dernier montage Rouge petit coeur - photographié à la lumière du jour, pour changer (c'est le week end !)

And because my portable workshop was all over the place anyways, I could not help making one last Rouge petit coeur bauble - captured in bright daylight for a change (Saturday morning, no work !)

 Mystery SAL 2011 - iStitch Designs

Je ne suis pas très douée pour les exercices du style "Stitch Along" - je n'arrive pas à me tenir au calendrier fixé. Alors que ce projet mené par CarolR aurait dû être terminé il y a bien longtemps, je l'ai laissé traîner... La météo n'étant pas propice à la balade aujourd'hui,  j'en ai profité pour finir mes devoirs, enfin.

I am not very good at Stitch Alongs - I keep straying from the objective. While the project led by CarolR should have been finished a long time ago, I have been putting it off... However, because the weather today was so miserable, I stayed indoors and - at last - finished my work.

Comme d'habitude, pour les couleurs, j'y suis allée au petit bonheur la chance. J'ai commencé par les fils, piochés dans mon stock de soies d'Alger du Ver à Soie (fins de série), puis pour la doublure intérieure, j'ai trouvé dans ma boîte à tissus un coupon de Liberty aux teinte assorties, et enfin dans ma boîte à rubans, le galon à pois qui convenait pile-poil. Par contre, j'ai acheté le cordonnet  - en croisant les doigts pour ne pas me tromper - sur le stand de la mercerie Moline, au salon MCI, et  ça a marché !

For the colour palette, I relied on my usual happy-go-lucky approach; I first started with the threads, picked at random in my stash of discontinued AVAS silks, then, for the inside lining, rummaged through my pile of fabrics and  found a complementary Liberty print, and last but not least, fished the perfect dotted ribbon out of the large square box where I keep an assortment of  trims. I bought the twisted braid at the Craft show a couple of weeks ago, not sure its colour would match the rest, but it did !
